BIDV has been honoured among Top 10 sustainable companies in Vietnam during an announcement ceremony on 1 December in Hanoi. The award is recognition of the bank’s efforts towards sustainable development.

Organized by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) through the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the CSI 2022 benchmarked more than 1,500 companies and commended best business practices in responsible production and operation from economic, social and environment perspectives.

Mr. Tran Long, BIDV’s Senior Executive Vice President represents BIDV to receive the CSI award

In its business development strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030, BIDV focuses on implementing a "green banking" branch/transaction office model in association with promoting green credit growth and environmental and social risk management in credit extension. BIDV is committed to implementing "green credit" packages, with an appropriate proportion of funds to finance customers in the fields of renewable energy, clean energy, low-carbon manufacturing and consumption, and adaptation to climate change.

Over the past time, BIDV has strengthened cooperation with international organizations to support the green and sustainable growth in Vietnam, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable finance, energy efficiency and clean energy transition.

Building a green bank, BIDV has implemented many solutions such as reducing the use of paper and plastics, saving energy and water through building environmentally friendly workplaces, paying attention to investing and developing modern information technology systems, and promoting digital transformation in business activities. The bank also organized an annual running race named "BIDVRun - For a Green Life" which attracted a large number of customers and BIDV staff, contributing to the implementation of the 1 million-tree program in response to the Prime Minister’s 1 billion-tree program.

Continuing to be used as a basis for assessing the sustainability of enterprises this year, the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) 2022 version has been updated with 130 indicators, 68 percent of which are related to legal compliance requirements – mandatory for all businesses, 32 percent are indicators related to sustainable business initiatives. This shows that just by complying well with the provisions of the law, enterprises can build a solid foundation for the development of sustainable production and business activities.
