On 17 April 2022 in Hanoi, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) launched the 2nd online charity running race “BIDV Run - For a green life”. The race is set to last for 22 days, from 17 April to 8 May 2022. On the first day, more than 17,000 athletes registered to the race.

The online race “BIDV Run - For a green life” is set for everyone, thereby raising community awareness of healthcare, encouraging BIDV staff, customers and public to join hands for environment protection, contributing to the national sustainable development. All miles achieved will be converted into cash sponsored by BIDV to build flood-proof community houses and to join the program of planting “One million trees” launched by BIDV in response to the “One billion-tree in 2021-2025 program” as initiated by the Prime Minister.

The Running Race is a meaningful activity in the series of programs to celebrate the 65th anniversary of BIDV (26 April 1957 - 26 April 2022) and the 71st anniversary of the Vietnam’s banking sector. This is to respond to Vietnam’s hosting of the 31st SEA Games.

On the first day of the Race, all valid mileage is multiplied by 3 times, i.e. 1km run would be converted to VND3,000. On the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi, nearly 1,000 athletes and employees from units/branches across BIDV system directly participated in the 6.5 km race, towards the 65th anniversary of BIDV.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang, BOD Member, Chairman of BIDV’s Trade Union, and Head of the Race Organizing Committee emphasized: “In the new pandemic situation, doing exercise for health improvement is very necessary for each individual. The race not only helps athletes build and maintain a green and healthy lifestyle, but also join BIDV to build flood-proof community houses in flood-prone provinces and contribute to planting 1 million trees in response to the Prime Minister’s “1 billion trees” program”.

In 2021, the BIDV Run - For a green life attracted 28,400 runners with total achievement of 1.4 million km. Accordingly, more than VND5.6 billion was donated to build flood-proof community houses and 64,000 trees were planted to implement BIDV’s program “One million trees”. Up to 30 March 2022, realizing its commitment, BIDV had planted 72,252 trees in many localities across the country such as Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Dak Lak, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, etc. At the same time, the first flood-proof community house funded by BIDV was inaugurated in Cam Due commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province.
