BIDV organized a seminar on "Preparation for the accelerated shift to electric vehicles in Asia during carbon emissions reduction process"

On March 20, 2023, BIDV cooperated with 03 Japanese partner banks namely Bank of Yokohama, Bank of Hiroshima, Bank of Kyoto to successfully hold a seminar on "Preparation for the accelerated shift to electric vehicles in Asia during carbon emissions reduction process" with the participation of 45 leading Japanese enterprises in the field of automobile-motorcycle manufacturing such as Toyota Motor, Toyota Hiroshima, Denso, Meiko Electronics, Toa corporation, etc.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Vuong Thanh Long, Head of FDI Banking Department, affirmed:

As clearly stated in the development orientation for 2021-2025 with vision to 2030, developing and becoming a green bank is one of BIDV's top goals. BIDV has been building a sustainable financial strategy, focusing on the development of customized green products and services, contributing a certain proportion to finance corporates operating in the field of green energy.

BIDV is currently leading the market in financing green projects with 1,718 projects and a credit/guarantee balance of US$2.7 billion, accounting for 4.3% of BIDV's total credit balance and 13% of the total green lending balance in the entire economy. BIDV is also the only domestic financial institution that has signed an MOU with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) to promote sustainable green finance, environment reservation as well as respond to climate change.

Also at the seminar, Mr. Sanshiro Fukao, Head of the Itochu Institute research group, and Mr. Toru Yasugoin, Head of the JBIC representative, shared their thoughts/predictions on "Preparation for the accelerated shift to electric vehicles in Asia during carbon emissions reduction process and the emergence of the Apple car" and "Towards sustainable development: Trends in Vietnam and the mechanism of JBIC”.
