A Collective Effort for the Championship's Success

With a longstanding history of 65 years, the Tien Phong Marathon National Championship has attracted a vast number of professional athletes and amateur participants. The 2024 Championship was held in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, gathering more than 11,000 runners.

This year, BIDV joined the Championship as a Diamond Sponsor. At the Opening Ceremony, on behalf of BIDV's leadership, Mr. Dang Van Tuyen, a member of the Board of Directors, stated: "The Tien Phong Marathon National Championship is a prestigious event and a great inspiration to runners in particular, and to people who love running and sports in general. This year, the Championship was organized in Phu Yen - a land with a well-established history and culture, playing a very important role in Vietnam's development history. With the desire to promote sports activities nationwide and improve community health, BIDV not only supports the organization of the Marathon Championship but also carries out social security activities to contribute to the social and economic development of Phu Yen Province."

BIDV was one of the largest contributors in terms of number of runners with more than 250 runners who are BIDVRUNNERs Club members, including BIDV’s employees and customers, participating in all categories. With their great efforts, BIDV runners achieved many impressive results. A large number of runners conquered the 42km category. Among them, 03 runners who are BIDV’s customers and also BIDVRUNNERs Club members won First Prize for the 42km category for women over 40 years old, First Prize for the 42km category for women under 30 years old, Second Prize for the 21km category, respectively.

... and meaningful activities for the community

In addition to the competitive aspects of the Championship, BIDV also engaged in meaningful activities to educate and instill patriotism within the community. Under the auspices of the Championship, BIDV participated in the Ceremony to pay tribute to the heroic marine martyrs of the Ho Chi Minh Road and to commemorate the soldiers of the no-number fleet in Vung Ro. Furthermore, BIDV organized a Flag Raising Ceremony titled "Fatherland within the heart of the Fatherland" towards our homeland's islands and seas, which was attended by more than 200 BIDV Runners.

Within the series of events under Tien Phong Marathon Championship 2024, with the combined contributions of BIDV and BIDVRUN runners and customers, BIDV carried out a tree planting campaign and funded VND 500 million to renovate Phu Lac park in Dong Hoa town, Phu Yen province.

At the program, Mr. Tran Phuong - Deputy CEO, Chairman of BIDV Trade Union - said: Community programs have been a key focus of BIDV recently. In particular, the effective implementation of programs for ecological environment protection, landscape improvement and response to climate change is BIDV’s commitment towards sustainability. BIDV has implemented “One Million Trees” program since 2021. The Bank also organizes the annual running race “BIDVRUN - For a Green Life” to attract the public and customers’ contribution to convert miles achieved under the race into funds for planting trees in different localities nationwide.

Mr. Dao My - Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People’s Committee - also affirmed the impact of the program: “On behalf of the leaders of Phu Yen province, I would like to extend our gratitude to BIDV and Tien Phong Newspaper for supporting us. Phu Yen province will continue to plant trees, protect environment to maintain a high quality life for every family and people, aiming at securing a green, rapid and sustainable development for Phu Yen.”

In addition to the tree planting program, the BIDVRUNNERs Club and BIDV’s Youth Union also funded school facilities, playground items, outdoor PE items and books for students at Nguyen Kim Vang elementary school, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province. This practical activity demonstrates BIDV’s support and companionship for the comprehensive development of the country’s young generation.
