On January 24th 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) announced and granted Listing Decision and celebrated the official trading day of 2,811,202,644 shares of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) under the stock ticker BID. With this event, BIDV becomes the sixth joint-stock commercial bank and the 354th member listed on HOSE.

With the reference price of VND 18,700 per share, the market capitalization of BIDV shares may account for over 5% of the total market capitalization, making banking sector becomes the industry with the largest contribution to the total market capitalization with 27%.  BIDV’s listing is expected to create a positive impact to the market and VN-Index, and also attract foreign investors’ attention to Vietnam's stock market.

BIDV’s listing is the necessary step after the successful IPO to ensure shareholders’ benefits and to boost liquidity for the bank’s shares, as well as increasing financial capacity, transparency and enhancing brand name.

On the event of the first trading day, Mr Tran Bac Ha said “We analyze the stock market performance and macroeconomic changes to choose the most favorable time for listing shares to ensure shareholders’ benefits. With the signs of positive macroeconomic factors and growth of the stock market, we decide this is the favorable time to list BIDV’s shares on Ho Chi Minh stock exchange”.

As of December 31st 2013, BIDV’s total assets reach VND 550 trillion, fund mobilization and credit growth rates are at over 16%, non-performing loan is well-managed at 2.3%, profit before tax is VND 5,233 billion, which increases nearly 21% in comparison with that of 2012 or 110.8% of the target set by the General Shareholder’s Meeting, ROA is 0.73%, ROE is 12.7%, and dividend rate is 8.5%.

In the year 2013, BIDV completed share issuance to existing shareholders with the volume of 510,032,102 shares, equivalent to VND 5,100 billion; and issued VND 3,150 billion of long-term bonds for Tier 2 capital. Both bank-only and consolidated CAR are over 10%.

Simultaneously, BIDV successfully carried out investment activities, diversified business activities such as cooperating with Metlife Insurance Company (the biggest life insurance company in US) to prepare for establishment of a joint-venture life insurance company, signing cooperation agreement with SumiTrust Bank (No.1 amongst trust bank and asset management services in Japan, with total assets ranked 5th among Japanese financial groups), cooperate with Manchester United football club.... In 2014, BIDV expects profit before tax of at least VND 6,000 billion, non-performing loan of under 2.6%, ROA at 0.78%, ROE at 13.3%, and dividend at 8-9%.
