VND 20 billion Tet gifts to the poor during Lunar New Year 2024 by BIDV

This amount means 40,000 Tet gifts for poor people and people affected by natural disasters across the country. This is the 16th consecutive year that the employees of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) join their hands to implement this meaningful community program. On this occasion, BIDV also finalized the running race “Warm Tet for the Poor - Spring 2024”...

The event to announce the Tet gift program for poor people in Spring 2024 was held by BIDV on 15 January 2024 in Hanoi. The program’s main beneficiaries include (i) poor people in remote areas, areas affected by natural disasters due to floods, extreme cold, drought, and salinity; policy families with meritorious services to the revolution; lonely elderly people, homeless children...; (ii) poor workers in 63 provinces and cities...  Worth VND 500,000 each, these Tet gifts are offered to poor people to buy necessities for Tet (equivalent to 01 kg of meat, 02 chung cakes, 01 box of Tet jam, 01 box of cake, 01 bottle of cooking oil, 01 kg of sugar, 01 package of MSG, 01 bottle of fish sauce, etc. at the current market prices).  Besides, on this occasion, BIDV also launched the program “Warm Tet on remote islands”. Under this, VND 2 billion was offered to give Tet gifts to the navy soldiers who are on duty to guard sovereignty on the front islands of our country and their family.

At the event to announce Tet gifts, BIDV also finalized the running race “BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the Poor - Spring 2024” organized from 12 November to 3 December 2023. This is the 5th consecutive year BIDV has organized an online technology-based charity run to record the achievements of runners. The running race attracted nearly 54,000 runners from provinces, cities nationwide, and 20 countries and territories globally with a total of 4.5 million km achieved. Accordingly, more than VND 17 billion out of a total of VND 20 billion was donated to presentTet gifts to the poor to welcome the Spring 2024. The running race connected those who want to join hands with BIDV to give Tet gifts to disadvantaged people, contributing to spreading great living values ​​to the community.

Following the Party’s and State’s direction on joining hands to organize the 2024 Lunar New Year for the disadvantaged, BIDV continues to implement the Tet gift giving program for poor people. This activity has been continuously carried out by BIDV annually since 2009. 40,000 Tet gifts symbolize love and sympathy of BIDV employees to disadvantaged families for a better and happier Tet. BIDV’s branches will coordinate with the government, Fatherland Front agencies, and Labor Confederation in localities to give Tet gifts to poor people before 15 December of Lunar Calendar.

Attending and speaking at the program, Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh - Vice Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front highly appreciated and acknowledged BIDV’s meaningful social security activities recently, especially Tet gifts for the poor, which proved effective and practical meaning to them. The Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front in localities will coordinate closely with BIDV to organize timely the gift-giving event for the beneficiaries before the Lunar New Year 2024.

Presenting Tet gifts to the poor is a meaningful annual activity of BIDV that has been continuously carried out for years, receiving wide recognition from localities and people across the country. Since 2009, BIDV has presented 15,000-65,000 gifts to the poor each year, adding up to nearly 1 million gifts with a total value of more than VND 300 billion given to the poor so far.
