Hanoi, June 15, 2015 – Following the Government’s resolution No. 93/NQ-CP dated December 15, 2014 by the Prime Minister on mechanisms and policies for health development; and Decision No. 92/QD-TTg dated January 9, 2013 approving the scheme on reducing hospital overload for the 2013-2020 period, BIDV launched a credit program for central and local hospitals and signed cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Ministry of Health.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - Minister of Health; Mr. Dinh La Thang, Minister of Transport; Mr. Dinh Van Cuong - Deputy Head of Central Economic Committee; Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh – Deputy Governor of State Bank of Vietnam; province leaders, professors, and leading doctors from central and local hospitals.​

Given the urgency in reducing hospital overload, BIDV as the Vietnam’s leading primarily state-run financial institution proactively worked with the Ministry of Health to design a credit program for the health sector to upgrade and buy new medical equipment, in which priority will be given to the following projects:

-          Procurement of modern medical equipment/machinery for advanced medical examination in order to improve medical quality and meet the health-care needs of the people.

-          New investment in, renovation, expansion and modernization of medical facilities of hospitals.

-          Reduction in hospital bed occupancy rate from the high level of >120% at central hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to below 100%.

The program offers a credit limit of VND20,000 billion with preferential interest rate and tenor up to 20 years. The credit program will take place from June 15, 2015 to end of May 31, 2022. Besides, BIDV will provide VND200 billion with preferential interest rates to doctors and nurses for their intensive training in foreign countries.
