No.10/2013: BIDV to co-organize Northwest region Social Security and Investment Promotion Conference 2013

On 26/03/2013, in Hanoi, the Northwest Steering Committee, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Planning and Investment held a press conference to introduce the content, the program of "Social Security and investment promotion Conference of NorthWest region 2013". Bank of Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) participated in the conference as a co-organizer. Before that, in 2008 and 2010, the Bank also participated in the conference as the unit which proposed and co-organized with model “3 parties” in investment promotion, "the State, the investor, the bank".

'Social Security and investment promotion Conference of Northwest region 2013' will be held on 03/4/2013 in Tuyen Quang City, Tuyen Quang province with the theme 'Bring out and link the Potentials'.

As a financial institution with the longest history in the system of credit institutions in Vietnam, since its establishment, BIDV has worked closely with the Northwest through the projects of allocation of investment capital to rebuild the key constructions of areas such as: Hoa Binh hydropower plant, Lao Cai Apatite mine, Thac Ba hydroelectric ... over the years, BIDV has always spent the highest attention to the social and economic development of Northwest region, through a broad network of with 63 commercial trading areas points (14 first level branches and 49 transaction offices) and 20 saving funds and 99 ATMs.

Through investment in key economic sectors of the Northwest, BIDV has contributed to encourage non-state economic sector to grow steadily and contribute more to the area. BIDV's total outstanding loans in the region for the period 2008-2012 reached the average growth rate of 28% / year. By the end of 2012, the total outstanding loans of BIDV in the area of over 27,000 billion, an increase of nearly 3 times higher than in 2008, which focused funding for the areas of: Hydroelectric power 28%, Industry 14 %, 10% cement, 3% minerals, ... Large hydropower projects in the region are mostly funded partly by BIDV such as the Son La hydropower project, Van Chan, Nam Muc, Nam Chien, An Khanh Thermal Power Plant 1 ... In particular, during the last 5 years, BIDV has funded about 3,000 billion for the Son La hydropower project which was officially inaugurated and put 6 units in operation on 23/12/2012

Besides providing adequate and effective banking products and services to serve the socio-economic development in the region, BIDV is also a leading unit in mobilizing the business community and directly implementing effectively the social security and education security activities in the area. The major areas that BIDV supports including: delete temporary house and build solidarity house for the poor; educational support; medical assistance, disaster relief, new rural construction. In the period 2008-2012, the total cost of social security BIDV has made ​​in the area of 326.3 billion. Number of poor districts in the region was supported by BIDV received the support according to the spirit of Resolution 30A consists of 7 districts: Sop Cop (Son La), Dien Bien Dong, Muong Nhe (Dien Bien), Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), Bao Lac (Cao Bang), Thuong Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Ky Son (Nghe An), along with the construction of vocational school dormitory for the northwestern region located in Bac Can ...

To further confirm the role of the co-organizing unit the conference and promote the effectiveness of the model 'three parties' in investment promotion, at this meeting, BIDV is expected to sign 06 agreements to finance with a total of 3434 billion funding commitment for the fields: paper, textiles, agricultural products, mining and hydropower.

After this meeting, BIDV will continue to arrange the long-term and medium capital flow in order to serve the needs of Development Investment Northwest Region. Specifically, the period 2013-2015, BIDV pledged to spend long-term and medium capital by turnover of 15.000 billion VND to develop the credit activities along with the economic development policy and plan, development of field in the areas. At the same time, BIDV will be the major capital arranger called on commercial banks inside and outside the country funding for priority fields in the area such as: agriculture and rural development; plant-production, processing rubber; transport infrastructure; small and medium enterprises; application of new technology projects; projects to serve export, investment in industrial infrastructure, the tourism ...
