No.33/2018: BIDV offers payment solutions for online taxi dispatch technology

On 10 December 2018, in Hanoi, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) signed an agreement on providing online payment solutions and banking products and services to the Vietnam Taxi Alliance via online car dispatch software (EMDDI).

Developed by scientists of Vietnam National University – Hanoi campus, EMDDI is the world's first online car dispatch software designed to be used simultaneously by thousands of transport carriers while maintaining unique features of each operator. With its outstanding functions, this product has received high recognition from both domestic and foreign experts.

Since its launch in June 2018, more than 600,000 taxi rides in Vietnam have been successfully booked through EMDDI. After the participation of Vietnam Taxi Alliance members, the rate of using EMDDI in taxi booking and transportation nationwide reached over 40,000 rides per day without any network congestion or software malfunction.

According to the signed agreement, BIDV will provide online payment solution and banking services and products to Viet Nam Taxi Alliance via EMDDI software, under which payment becomes extremely simple and convenient for customers as well as the Alliance’s partners and members.

In particular, BIDV will integrate/link EMDDI software into BIDV SmartBanking system. Accordingly, any customers who have SmartBanking software can install and use the EMDDI application immediately to book and pay in an extremely quick and easy manner.

In addition, BIDV also provides additional convenient services (including payment, consumer loans, overdrafts, deposits, e-banking, ATM cards, credit cards, etc.) to employees of Vietnamese Tax Alliance, EMDDI as well as of their existing and potential partners.

In the coming time, the number of Taxi Alliance’s members is expected to increase significantly, bringing the number of cars in Hanoi to 4,000. In 2019, the expected number of cars joining the Alliance will increase to 20,000 vehicles, operating in 63 provinces nationwide.

This cooperation brings benefits to all parties, and at the same time is in line with the direction of the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam in implementing the Industry 4.0 and making non-cash payment easier.

Over the years, BIDV has paid special attention to boosting SMEs development and achieved positive results. In 2018, BIDV was honored to receive a number of SME-related awards such as "SME Bank of the Year" by Asian Banking & Finance (Singapore), “Best SME Bank Vietnam 2018” by Global Banking and Finance Review (United Kingdom), and Best SME Bank Vietnam 2018 by Alpha Southeast Asia (Hong Kong).
