On 16/2/2014, in Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) coordinated with the locality to hold the Groundbreaking Ceremony for construction and upgrade of Primary and Secondary Schools in the name of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Attending the Groundbreaking Ceremony, there were the leaders of the Provincial Committee of the Party, People’s Council, People’s Committee of Dien Bien province, leader of Dien Bien district, Muong Phang commune; representatives of BIDV; investment, construction units and the parents of the pupils of the two schools.

In the past years, although the State and locality attached special importance to the investment, due to the geographic and population characteristics, so Muong Phang still has a lot of difficulties, the material facilities in general and for education in particular are deprived. Before the educational socialization demand of the locality, BIDV sponsored 10 billion VND to the locality to build and upgrade the two schools, in which at the Primary School, including the classroom building area with 2 storeys, 6 rooms and 4 teachers’ mission rooms; at the Secondary School, including 6 functional classrooms, 10 teachers’ mission rooms. It is expected that after completing the upgrade, the two schools in the name of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Muong Phang will have enough conditions about the material facilities to build into the national standard schools.   

​Speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Mr. Mua A Son, Deputy Provincial Committee Secretary, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province said: Although there are a lot of difficulties, Vo Nguyen Giap Primary and Secondary Schools have a very good studying tradition in Dien Bien district as well as in Dien Bien province. Hopefully, after the investment in upgrading, the teachers and pupils of the schools will have more opportunities to improve the teaching and learning quality. He also noted that the Employer who is the provincial Department of Education,district leadership as well as the community supervisory board of the locality should participate in supervising the construction on a regular basis so that the work meets the highest requirements on quality and progress, worthy of the contributions of the sponsor as well as the expectations of the teachers and the local people.

Mr. Pham Quang Tung - Deputy General Director of BIDV said: “From 2007 to present, BIDV has always taken interestin supporting social security for Dien Bien province, especially support for education work of the province with many programs such as building the boarding school system for the primary, secondary schools of Muong Nhe district, donating 600 computers to the schools in the province... The contribution of 10 billion VND to building and upgrading thePrimary and Secondary Schools in the name of General Vo Nguyen Giap is an honor, pride of the cadres and employees of BIDV”.

In the past years, in Dien Bien, BIDV has implemented many social security activities focused greatly on two objectives is to build border homes for the poor compatriots and support for education development of the locality with total support expenditure of over 85 billion VND. Some typical programs implemented by BIDV such as:Poverty Reduction Support for Dien Bien Dong district, Muong Nhe district, support for new rural construction of Thanh Chan commune, Dien Bien district, giving New Year’s gifts to the compatriots of various ethnic groups in the province, etc.
