Ben Tre province, Vietnam, 31 January 2016 - The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in collaboration with the Ben Tre People's Committee organized the inauguration and handover of Chau Hoa Preschool located in Chau Hoa commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province. The VND 10-billion school is wholly funded by BIDV.

 

​Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam; Mr. Truong Vinh Trong - Former politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam; and leaders of Ben Tre province, and teachers, parents and children of the school were in attendance.

The Chau Hoa preschool was constructed in 2014, featuring 10 classrooms, a large meeting room and other ancillary works such as fairy garden, playground to serve more than 300 kids.

Chau Hoa is a remote village with poor infrastructure, especially preschools. The local people's main income comes from agriculture.

Chau Hoa preschool was first built in 2007, featuring only 4 classrooms due to the limited investment budget. Over the time the classrooms downgraded that did not meet the needs of teaching and learning and caused difficulties for the children’s learning. With the desire to provide preschool children with full and best learning facilities, and more opportunities for children under 5 to go to school, BIDV joined the locality to fund and complete the preschool.

Mrs. Phan Thi Chinh, BIDV Board member, said: “BIDV hopes that Chau Hoa preschool will be the starting place to nurture future talents, creating good conditions for teachers and pupils to continue promoting their learning tradition. In addition, BIDV branches operating in the province will also contribute to the local economic development and improve the living standards of the local people”.

Mrs. Ngo Kim Quyen, the preschool head, said: The school would like to extend sincere thanks to BIDV for their care and timely and meaningful support. This will be the foundation and motivation for the school teachers and pupils to strengthen their professional skills, morals and lifestyles. “The preschool will always be a warm home for the children to learn and play”, Ms. Quyen said.

Established nearly 60 years ago, BIDV has been the leading financial institution that focuses more resources on education in Vietnam. In the past 5 years, following the policy of the Vietnam government in privatizing education, BIDV has granted non-refundable fund to the education sector worth more than VND1,100 billion for construction of hundreds of schools ranging from preschool to high schools, and granted scholarships to thousands of students and thousands of computers, especially to poor districts.
