No.15/2014: BIDV signs MOU with Johnan Shinkin Bank

On 24/03/2014, in Hanoi, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam held the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding with Johnan Shinkin Bank, Japan. Immediately after the signing ceremony, BIDV also had the working program with delegation of 20 Japan enterprises which are customers of Johnan Shinkin Bank.

Under the cooperation agreement, BIDV will supply the banking service to Japan small and medium sized enterprises which are customers of Johnan Shinkin Bank as operating the business in Vietnam. Specifically: opening the payment account, issuing credit and other services such as payment service, salary payment… BIDV will also support Japan enterprises in consulting the information about business and investment environment in Vietnam, regulations of the law of Vietnam for foreign investment in the field of finance and banking, issues on accounting, tax…

​Johnan Shinkin is the second biggest bank in the system of Shinkin Bank co-operative banks with the network of 85 branches throughout Japan. Johnan Shinkin Bank was incorporated since 1945, at present, total assets are about 38.9 billion USD, owner’s capital attains 2.03 billion USD, deposit is 36.5 billion USD, loan is 20.3 billion USD, it operates like a co-operate and commercial bank, specializes in supplying the service products including deposit and lending, commercial bank, monetary market and foreign exchange, it mainly serves local people, small and medium sized enterprises in the region (scale of enterprises having charter capital of < 900 million Yen, equivalent to about 9 million USD).

Addressing at the signing ceremony, Mr. Phan Duc Tu - member of Management Board, General Director of BIDV affirmed: “The signing with member banks in Shinkin Bank system is practical activity of BIDV aimed at strengthen the cooperation with foreign financial institutions in order to supply banking utility services and hope to become the bridge among Japan enterprises with Vietnam market, contribute actively to traditional friendship relation between Vietnam and Japan”.

Johnan Shinkin Bank is the second Bank in Shinkin Bank system signing the Memorandum of Understanding with BIDV; at the same time, this is the 3rd signing of BIDV for Shinkin Bank system of Japan, including: MOU between BIDV and Shinkin Central Bank (4/2013); MOU between BIDV and Gifu Shinkin Bank (12/2013)

BIDV at present is the leading bank in Vietnam (over 26 billion USD), has market share of credit and capital mobilization of about 12% in Vietnam banking system. BIDV has operation network including over 700 branches and trading offices in all 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam and some countries in the world. BIDV at present has transaction relation with over 5 millions customers all over the country.

Japan is the country aiding the most ODA for Vietnam. Within 20 years from 1993 to 2013, Japan aided for Vietnam nearly 58 billion USD, accounting for 72% total ODA capital of the countries for Vietnam. Japan is also the country investing FDI the most, the most effectively with over 2,000 projects and total investment capital of over 38 billion USD. At present, Japan has over 2,000 enterprises, in which the most of them are small and medium sized enterprises operating in Vietnam.

In the coming time, BIDV will further strengthen the cooperation activity with Japan banks, Japan enterprises and investors who cares about the investment into Vietnam market.
