On 3 April, BIDV and Van Ho District People’s Committee (Son La province) held a ground-breaking ceremony on the construction of Sao Do Primary School. This is one of the main activities in the framework of the ceremony on announcement of Prime Minister’s Decision approving “The master plan on developing Moc Chau national tourism region” and Northwest Investment Promotion Conference 2015.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dao Minh Tu - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Mr. Pham Van Thuy - Vice Chairman of Son La province; Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang – Senior EVP of BIDV; and representatives of Son La province, Van Ho District, BIDV and media agencies.

​Founded in 2013, Van Ho is a new district separated from Moc Chau district, bordering with Mai Chau District (Hoa Binh province), Muong Lat, Quan Hoa (Thanh Hoa) and sharing border with Usop District (Houaphanh - Lao PDR). Van Ho has a poverty rate of above 50% and poor education conditions. With the desire to provide the district’s children with spacious learning place, BIDV decided to sponsor VND5 billion for the construction of Sao Do Primary School in the district. The school has 2 floors with 10 classrooms and ancillary works.

Pham Van Thuy - Vice Chairman of Son La province People’s Committee said Van Ho is a mountainous border district separated from Moc Chau in 2013 consisting of difficult and poor communes. The BIDV’s funding for the construction of the Sao Do Primary School will provide a stable and spacious roof to the district children that helps contribute to the cause of education and social security of the province.

Tran Xuan Hoang – Senior Executive Vice President of BIDV said the education and training are closely related to the longevity and prosperity of every nation. He believed that the training and education support are not only the task of the education sector, of the political system but also of the whole society. In recent years, BIDV has become one of the leading banks to contribute to the economy as well as the community and society. Not only investing and providing loans for construction of schools nationwide, in 5 recent years, BIDV uses part of its profit and employees’ contributions to fund hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong to the education sector.

In Son La, BIDV funded the poor district of Sop Cop VND32 billion for construction of 12 schools, 3 clinics and 1,190 houses for the poor households. In addition to the Sop Cop, BIDV also supported other poor districts in the province with a total funding value of about VND52 billion.

The construction of the Sao Do Primary School in the difficult mountainous area will help teachers and students in the Van Ho district to have a good learning and convenient place, motivate both teachers and students to study harder and make the rural poor district more beautiful.
