This is the 4th house handed over by BIDV within the project of building 13 flood-proof houses in 06 central flood-prone provinces (Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue and Quang Nam).

The inaugural ceremony of flood-proof community house in Truong Son commune

Total investment of the project was VND3.5 billion, of which VND3 billion was funded by BIDV and the remaining was funded by the local budget. Applying BIDV’s consistent design for flood-proof house, the flood-proof community house in Truong Son commune is a solid house consisting of 2 floors with a construction area of 268 m2 which can accommodate 250 people. The first floor is an empty space of 213 m2 with a surrounding guardrail system; the remaining area is the sidewalk for the disabled people, lobby and stairs. The second floor includes a community hall of 117.8 m2 with a stage, a kitchen, storage and restroom, etc.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang - Member of the Board of Directors of BIDV - said:

Truong Son commune is a border mountainous commune of Quang Ninh district, which often suffers from natural disasters, especially storms and floods, etc. BIDV believes that after being put into use, the flood-proof community house will be a common house for people in Truong Son commune to meet and organize cultural activities and be a solid roof to protect people and livestock during the flood season.

On behalf of the local government, Mr. Pham Trung Dong - Chairman of Quang Ninh District People’s Committee - expressed his gratitude to BIDV for the significant contributions to the local socio-economic development and social security activities. At the same time, he expected that BIDV would continue to accompany and support Quang Ninh district in developing economy and improving people’s standard of living.

With this large and solid flood-proof community house, from now on, people will feel more secure and no longer worry about finding a safe shelter in every flood season. This is also a community cultural space for people to gather, share knowledge and experiences, thereby reinforcing and promoting the people’s solidarity.

Also at the ceremony, BIDV Quang Binh branch presented 20 gifts worth VND20 million to support disadvantaged students in Truong Son commune before the new school year.
