At the 5th Annual Forum on “Expanding Women’s Participation in the Economy”, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Japan in late March, representatives from BIDV and experts shared valuable insights and practical experiences to help foster a more inclusive economic ecosystem. The focus: enhancing investment in women-owned micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong (far left), Deputy Director of BIDV’s Corporate Banking Department, delivered a keynote speech at the event.

She emphasized that: BIDV, with its customer-centric strategy, has long recognized women-owned small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) as a key segment deserving targeted support. "BIDV is committed to empowering WSMEs with both financial and non-financial solutions to drive sustainable development", said Ms Phuong. To this end, BIDV has introduced a wide range of initiatives that help WSMEs: maximizing the value of financial resources, strengthening internal capacity and financial health, improving business management and accelerating digital transformation. Through the bank’s digital platforms, women-led businesses can easily access tailored services and support tools.

One notable initiative is SMEasy (https://smeasy.bidv.com.vn/) - a digital platform specifically designed to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs. Inspired by the message: “Shining with Women-Owned Small and Medium Enterprises”, SMEasy follows the EASY principles: “Easy - Accessible - Simple - Yours”, offering a streamlined, user-friendly experience with comprehensive digital banking solutions.

BIDV is also deeply involved in broader initiatives that aim to improve access to finance, enhance business capabilities, and promote equity and sustainability for women-led enterprises. Some of these include: Business Forum Supporting WSMEs Participation in Supply Chains using Sustainable Development Tools; Digital Toolkits and the launch of a Cybersecurity Handbook for Women Leaders; Participation in the “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” campaign. These efforts were internationally recognized when UN Women Asia-Pacific awarded BIDV the 2024 WEPs Award in the category of “Innovation for Gender Equality.” This prestigious award highlights BIDV’s effective integration of gender-responsive practices and innovation in financial services.

BIDV’s continued support for WSMEs reflects the bank’s deep commitment to gender equality and sustainable development, and by empowering women in business, BIDV is not only contributing to economic growth but also promoting inclusive prosperity that benefits the broader community.
