Over 4.6 million transactions and VND23 billion contributed to the people in the Mekong Delta region

After 17 days of implementation, the “Fresh water for a green life” program has been widely supported by the bank’s customers.

The "Fresh water for a green life" 2020 program, launched from 26 April 2020 to 12 May 2020, is aimed at connecting millions of customers to join hands to support the people in the Mekong Delta provinces who are severely affected by the drought and saltwater intrusion. Accordingly, for each money transfer conducted via BIDV SmartBanking, BIDV deducted VND5,000 as donation for buying water tanks and water filters for the disadvantaged people.

With 4.6 million transfer transactions via BIDV SmartBanking recorded, BIDV proactively used VND23.03 billion from its fund to buy 13,300 water tanks and 39 water filters and presented them to people in 5 Mekong Delta provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Long An, which are severely affected by the drought and saltwater intrusion.

From 6 May 2020, BIDV started to organize programs to present water tanks and water filters to the 5 provinces, with the attendance of the representatives from the provincial People's Committee, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the provincial State Bank, representatives of district and commune government, and local people.

In particular, BIDV presented 2,000 water tanks worth VND3 billion for the people of Ca Mau Province; 3,300 water tanks worth VND5 billion for people of Kien Giang Province; 4,700 water tanks and 5 water filters whose capacity of 10,000 liters/day worth VND5.2 billion for the people of Ben Tre Province; 34 water filters whose capacity of 10,000 liters/day worth VND4.93 billion for the people of Long An Province.

Earlier, BIDV successfully launched the “One transaction – One helping hand” program and donated VND3.3 billion in total for hospitals and localities in fighting Covid-19 pandemic. For each online interbank transfer via BIDV SmartBanking and BIDV Online, the bank donated VND1,000 from the bank’s fund.

With the message “For a green life”, BIDV encourages online transactions via e-banking channels (BIDV SmartBanking and BIDV Online) to help protect the environment and meet the modern financial transaction needs of customers.
