According to BIDV’s Second Quarter 2019 Consolidated Financial Statements, the bank’s total assets as of 30 June 2019 reached more than VND1.4 million billion, an increase of 6.6% compared to end of Dec 2018.

BIDV's total deposits increased by 7% to nearly VND1.06 million billion, of which term deposits accounted for 85%. Total outstanding loans grew by 7.5% to over VND1.05 million billion; 64% formed by short-term debts.

In the first half of 2019, the lender’s consolidated pre-tax profit reached VND4,772 billion. In Q2 only, profit before tax reached more than VND 2,251 billion.

The lender’s 6-month net interest income increased by 1.2%, hitting VND17,683 billion. While net profit from services increased slightly by 14% to VND1,968 billion, net profit from foreign exchange and net profit from other activities increased sharply by 68% to VND734.6 billion and 49% to VND2,375 billion, respectively.

Currently, the bank has strived to achieve key targets set by the AGM 2019, including: Profit before tax at VND10,300 billion; Mobilized capital growth at 11%; Outstanding loans increasing by 12%; NPL below 2%.

BIDV’s 2019 focus is on maintaining quality growth, consolidating its leading position in key market segments, expanding on retail customers and SMEs, promoting Digital banking strategy, developing electronic sale channel, promoting a multi-service business model, and improving management under international standards.

On 22 July 2019, the Board of Directors of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) issued Resolution No.696/NQ-BIDV approving a deal of over 603 million stocks with South Korean partner KEB Hana Bank. BIDV and KEB Hana Bank will carry out required procedures in accordance with laws of the two countries to finalize the deal soon.
