Promoting innovation and building BIDV ecosystem in the digital era

On 26 June 2020 in Hanoi, BIDV successfully organized “Creative Festival Day 2020” – a highlight in the series of activities towards the bank’s “Create and practice learning culture” Scheme.

Applied creativity to better serve customers and boost business results

Creativity is a crucial factor in BIDV culture. During the bank’s development, the mindset of creations toward customers has resulted in products and programs which have met the need of the market and customers. Especially, in recent years, amid the Industrial Revolution 4.0 movement, more than 200 new initiatives have been generated each year, focusing on improving the bank’s procedure and creating new products to better serve customers. Thank to these initiatives, BIDV has been able to continually provide modern and high-technology applied products.

An initiative which was presented on “Creative Festival Day 2020”

The effect from Creative Festival Day 2019 has inspired 316 unit-level initiatives from the bank’s departments and centers at head office, 306 unit-level initiatives from branches and subsidiaries, 41 system-level initiatives and 12 representative system-level initiatives. These initiatives are valuable assets to BIDV, covering innovations and creations of the bank in accordance with international practices, such as: (i) Innovation in operational activities (i.e. governance, working environment, organizational structure,...), (ii) Process innovation (i.e. lending, financing, investment ...), (iii) Products and services innovation (i.e. developing new products and services) and (iv) Marketing innovation (marketing activities, customer approach on digital platforms,...).

In the first half of 2020, 63 system-level research topics from 17 units have been selected to the list of initiatives, which focus on the bank’s important concerns such as: Risk management capacity improvement strategy; IT capacity enhancement solutions (safety and security); Software programs based on the digital banking development and application of artificial intelligence trend; Research and development of new products and services; etc. In particular, the proportion of IT capacity enhancement solutions accounted for 54% of the total number of registered topics.

Honoring the initiatives at “Creative Festival Day 2020”

During the period from March 2019 to June 2020, BIDV has recorded 350 initiatives, executed 162 in branches and 112 in head quarter. On Creative Festival Day 2020, 12 representative system-level initiatives and 7 awarded initiatives were honored.

Building BIDV ecosystem in the digital era

“Create and practice learning culture” has become familiar among BIDV employees, creating a foundation for a sustainable development and best-matched products and services for customers’ need.

Mr. Le Ngoc Lam – Senior Executive Vice President in charge of BIDV Board of Management, stressed: “The research and creation process has to put customers at core, thus improve the procedures, generate new feasible ideas, develop new products and upgrade current ones”. He also requested the managers to encourage learning culture, creating the most favorable environment to nurture innovative ideas which could be put into practice.

Under the bank’s business development strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030, BIDV has defined its core values which are: Customers oriented – Innovative – Professional and trustful – and Social responsible. The management is determined to make BIDV an innovative institution. After the completion of the strategic deal with Hana Bank (Korea), BIDV is expected to innovate its governance and business activities, in accordance with international practices.

Preparing for Creative Festival Day 2021, BIDV has come up with the topic “Breakthrough to develop BIDV’s ecosystem in the digital era” and slogan “BIDV – More than just a bank”. Innovation is the key of productivity boost and is the factor which determines the competitiveness of enterprises in the market in the long run. Therefore, each employee and manager is encouraged to absorb this spirit and respond to the innovation activities, realizing the goal of an enduring and prosperous BIDV.
