Hanoi, 26 April 2019 - BIDV today celebrates its 62nd anniversary which marks a proud development journey of the longest-established commercial bank in Vietnam.

After 62 years, BIDV has become a leading financial institution in the country, operating both local and international from a bank that only performed the task of allocating and managing capital for construction and investment. The bank’s number of branches and employees grew significantly from 11 and 200, respectively to more than 1,000 branches and transaction offices, over 15,000 ATMs/POS and more than 24,000 professional and trained staff.

At the end of 2018, the bank’s total assets exceeded VND1.3 quadrillion, being the largest commercial bank in Vietnam by assets. Deposits and outstanding loans all exceeded VND1 quadrillion with consolidated profit reaching VND9,473 billion. BIDV continued to be assigned high credit ratings by international rating firms, receiving the leading partner bank in Vietnam award from the Asian Development Bank; being included the list of “Top 2,000 largest public companies”, “Top 400 world’s most valuable bank brands”; “Top 15 most valuable brands in Vietnam”, “Top 10 excellent brands in Vietnam”, among others.

With the motto of “Discipline – Accountability – Efficiency – Breakthrough”, in 2019 BIDV will drastically promote the digital banking strategy and improve financial capacity including charter capital increase. The bank also focuses on retail and SME segments.
