On 9 November 2019 in Hanoi, BIDV successfully organized the kick-off ceremony of the online running competition "BIDV Smile - Tet for the poor 2020" with over 16,000 runners having registered. This impressive start promises to bring a warmer Tet to the poor.

The kick-off ceremony saw the presence of representatives of the Board of Directors, thousands of employees and customers of BIDV in Hanoi, and was livestreamed at BIDV branches nationwide, showing the heat of the tournament and the excitement of the athletes across the country.

On the lunching morning, almost 10,000 runners out of a total of over 16,000 registered users attended and recorded their walking/running activity on the event’s official website - BIDVrun.com. There were 241 teams from BIDV units consisting of nearly 10,000 athletes; other 230 teams of nearly 3,000 athletes; and more than 2,000 individuals. In addition to the spirit of sport and physical training, every participant wishes to join hands with BIDV in giving Tet gifts to the poor on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020.

Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang, Senior Executive Vice President of BIDV, appealed to the employees to join the running competition.

Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang - Senior Executive Vice President of BIDV, Head of the Organization Committee of the competition - said: "One of BIDV's missions in social responsibility that BIDV has done over the years is to take care of the poor, from supporting the poor after natural disasters, building houses for the poor, to supporting poor patients... We hope that the responsibility of the community does not stop just yet, but spreads to every employee. The running competition "BIDV Smile - Tet for the poor" will link this meaningful social security activity with sport training and health improvement, connecting workers and customers in the whole system".

This open-to-the-public running competition is operating on an online platform, connecting to mobile app Strava to website www.BIDVrun.com. BIDV employees, customers and the public may take part in the competition as individuals or in teams, and are free to practice walking/running at any location and within their willing period of time. For each kilometer finished by the participants, BIDV commits to donate between VND1,000 and VND3,000 to the fund “Tet for the poor 2020”. The result is officially recorded from 00:01, 9 November 2019 to 00:59, 30 November 2019.

At BIDV Bac Lieu branch, Ms. Lam Thi Sang, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Bac Lieu province, said: "Over the past time, Bac Lieu has received respectful sentiments of BIDV through many social charity activities such as building schools, houses, supporting poor students... with a total contribution of over VND11 billion... On the occasion of the running competition, we call everyone to take urgent actions to build a better community together".

The managements of BIDV chanted the message of the competition: "Million hearts - One running beat"

Through the event, BIDV looks forward to the mutual support of the bank’s employees, customers and the public in general toward a warm Tet for the poor and needy people.
