Hanoi, 24 February 2015. On the first working day of the Lunar New Year, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and leaders of ministries and government agencies paid a Tet visit to officers and employees of Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam JSC (BIDV).

Reporting to Mr. Nhan on the bank’s business performance in 2014 and key action plans in 2015, a representative of the bank management summarized the strong development of the bank with successful fulfillment of business plan set out for 2014. BIDV is one of ten businesses to pay largest corporate income tax to the State Budget as announced by Vietnam’s General Department of Taxation (GDT). Besides, BIDV is one of the largest banks by total assets with VND 655 trillion, an increase of 18%. Credit growth is good in accordance with the direction of the Government and the State Bank. Credit quality is well controlled, and the NPL ratio is reduced.

On behalf of the Bank, Mr. Tran Bac Ha, Board Chairman expressed thanks to Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan and the leaders of ministries and government agencies. He confirmed BIDV is always at the forefront of implementing the monetary policies of the State. The BIDV Chairman said the Bank has submitted a scheme on rural agriculture. BIDV is the wholesale bank for the Rural Finance Project. In addition, BIDV is also actively involved in agriculture investment funds.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated the business performance of BIDV in 2014 and its contribution to the national economy. Mr. Nhan also praised BIDV for excellently acting as chairman of Associations of investors in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan wished the Bank a creative year and great successes in the New Year.
