Increasing investment in the northern provinces of Laos

In the framework of activities during the visit of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the northern provinces of Laos,with the approval of the Party leaders, the two governments of Vietnam and Laos, from 13-15/3 /2013, BIDV coordinated with the Association of Vietnamese businesses investing in Laos (AVIL) to hold a series of events in Xieng Khoang and Hua Phan province.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung - Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Thongsing Thammavong - Prime Minister of Lao People's Democratic Republic and the leaders of ministries, central agencies of the two countries, representatives of thelocal government Xieng Khoang, Hua Phan province and Northern provinces of Laos, the participants are businesses, investors of Vietnam and Laos.

 

Investment promotion seminar between Vietnam and Northern provinces of Laos

Pm on 13/03/2013, AVIL collaborated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos to hold a seminar to promote investment between Vietnam and Northern provinces of Laos, with the participation of the 140 delegates from the agencies ministries of 2 parties, representatives from the Laos northern provinces with over 60 enterprises of the two countries.

At the seminar, Mr. Tran Bac Ha - AVIL President, Chairman of Board of BIDV - said: Vietnam currently has 127 investment projects in northern Laos (31.8% of total investment projects) with a total registered capital approximately $ 302 million, is invested at 8/9 Northern provinces of Laos, which invest mainly in two provinces in Hua Phan and Xieng Khoang. Xieng Khoang, there are 19 projects, total registered capital of $ 207 million accounted for 69%. Particularly Hua Phan has 73 projects with a total registered capital of $ 62 million accounted for 20%

 

Ground-breaking ceremony of the Hua Phan airport

Pm on 14/03/2013, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group held a ground-breaking ceremony of the international airport Nong Khang in Hua Phan province. This is the second airport construction project that Hoang Anh Gia Lai Lao was licensed by Laos government to build with Attapeu airport project.

The project was built on the land with a total area of 183 hectares and was divided into two phases. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in 2015 with the passenger terminal with a capacity of 100,000 passengers / year, landing route has a length of 2400 meters, a width of 30 meters, mainly to receive small aircrafts (70 -100 seats), short length ATR 72, Fokker 70 ... Step on to the second phase, Nong Khang international airport will be upgraded to be able to meet the requirements of taking off, landing of large aircrafts such as the Airbus A320, Airbus A321 ...

The commencement of Hua Phan Revolution Museum Construction and Vieng Xay historic monument renovation project.

During the time of the war of resistance against the French and the United States, District of Vieng Xay in particular and Hua Phan province in general were the common revolutionary base of both Vietnam and Laos. Battlefield Vieng Xayis one of the most fierce one, marked by fierce and hardship battles which Laos soldiers and Vietnamese volunteers were together to fight. To express the heart and the responsibility of a business attached to Laos in almost 15 years, BIDV has proposed building Hua Phan province Revolution Museum and renovating the historic MonumentHang Pha Deng, Vieng Xay province.

 

Awards to support the people of the two provinces of Xieng Khoang and Hua Phan

On this occasion, the Vietnamese credit organizations operating in Laos (including BIDV) has contributed funds to finance Education Promotion Foundation Hua Phan and Xieng Khoang provinces with a total value of 10 billion dong (each province 5 billion), Mr. Nguyen Van Binh -  Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam - representative of credit institutions awarded symbolic funding for the provincial leaders.

Association of Vietnamese investors in Laos also sponsors for educational programs in Hua Phan and Xieng Khoang provinces with a total budget of 2.5 billion VND. Mr. Le Dao Nguyen, a member of the BIDV Board - AVIL representative awarded the symbolic funding for Xieng Khoang provincial leaders 1.25 billion VND; Mr. Tran Luc Lang - Deputy general director of BIDV represented to award the symbolic funding for Hua Phan provincial leaders 1.25 billion. In addition, BIDV also donated 10,000 notebooks for Xon Nua high school students, Vieng Thoong district, Hua Phan province – which was funded to construct by the BIDV's capital and was inaugurated in late 2011.
