At the Vietnam Retail Banking Forum 2016 co-organised by the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) and International Data Group (IDG) on 1 December in Ho Chi Minh City, BIDV received the honoured title of Vietnam’s Outstanding Retail Bank for 2016.

​The award is the most important among eight awards of the Vietnam Outstanding Banking Awards programme 2016. The awards were based on strict criteria and evaluated through three rounds in a transparent, objective, and independent manner by industry experts from governmental agencies, ministries, and associations in the fields of finance, banking and technology.

The award is the recognition of BIDV’s consistent efforts in retail banking over the past ten years. With deep insight in the development trend of retail banking, BIDV shifted its business to this area in 2006, with many innovative and creative reforms being made. The bank has achieved outstanding achievements in terms of scale, efficiency and quality.

Since 2013, BIDV has maintained its leading position amongst commercial banks in Vietnam in terms of resident deposit mobilisation and retail credit, with annual growth rates in the 2013-2015 period of 30 percent per year and 55 percent per year, respectively. The bank boosted the introduction of modern distribution channels towards more safety, efficiency, and interaction with customers via internet banking, mobile banking, a contact centre and social media command centre.

BIDV is also the pioneer in the research and development of personal banking products and services that are competitive and tailored to the needs of customers. The bank has a diverse product portfolio of more than 100 retail products, serving over eight million individual customers.

With a network of more than 1,000 transaction points, including international standardised retail outlets, more than 1,800 ATMs and over 32,000 POS, connecting to more than 1,000 agencies worldwide, and bilateral agreements inked with major banks in countries such as the Russian Federation, the Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos , Myanmar, and Taiwan, BIDV not only affirmed its position as a leading bank in Vietnam, but also demonstrated its aspirations to reach further out to the region and the world.

In recent years, BIDV has been honoured with many prestigious retail banking awards both locally and internationally. The bank won the title of Best Retail Bank in Vietnam in 2015 and 2016; Mortgage and Home Loans Product of the Year 2016 as voted by The Asian Banker, E-Banking award in 2014 and 2015 by IDG and VNBA; and My E-bank as voted by VnExpress news site.
