With its outstanding results in SME segment, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) was honored "Best SME Bank in Vietnam” award for the 3rd consecutive year by Alpha Southeast Asia.

The “Best SME Bank Vietnam” award is part of the 14th Best Financial Institutions Awards in ASEAN which is held by Alpha Southeast Asia and voted by independent experts. The event saw the attendance of BIDV and leading financial institutions and banks in the region such as DBS, Maybank, OCBC, CIMB, Public Bank Malaysia, RHB Investment Bank, Hong Leong, Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, etc.

By the end of 2019, BIDV is the largest commercial bank in Vietnam with total assets of over VND1,400 billion. Having the largest total assets and a wide network of operations in Vietnam, BIDV has thrived in terms of size and efficiency of SME banking operations with more than 289,000 customers, accounting for 39% of the total number of SMEs in Vietnam, growing by 10% compared to 2018. Maintaining the leading position in Vietnam for years, BIDV has provided exceptional solutions to support SMEs.

In 2019, BIDV has issued the regulations of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) to meet ADB standard and developed technical assistance to improve lending efficiency. BIDV is the only Vietnamese bank to issue a credit program of up to VND7,000 billion offering preferential lending rates to support business sustainable development.
